The house:
The Casa de S. Francisco was designed and built by our grandfather 60 years ago. His goal was to have a place where all the family could spend time together and enjoy the quality life of the country site. With the help of the local comunity the house was built with traditional housing tecniques. Through out the years, it was upgraded with extra rooms, extra living rooms, a swimming pool and a chappel where many of our family weddings and baptizims were celabrated. From the oldest to the youngest everyone treasures the memories of the summer holidays and of every special moment spent at this place. Some of us even got to live here for many years and experience its great quality of life. We try our best to keep the house`s rural originality so here you can see traditional rooftops, walls, furniture, cooking appliances, bread oven and everyday objetcs. Today we wish to open our gates and share our treasure with others, Working to make this dream grow...
The community:
We are a community of warriors of light, dedicating our love to make this project work. We try everyday to improve ourselves and the environment around us. Making it possible for those who visits us, to experience the inner transformation that this place has to give. All this work comes from the heart and what we receive back is the love of the Universe all inside of us. We each share our ways of looking at life, building together the common vision. While we explore our passions in this farm life, we respect and thank Mother-Earth the way she teaches us. Our brother sun and our sister moon are our watch and calendar, allowing us to be synchronized with the rhythms of the Earth. The weather is many times a reflection of what we need in our life, either rain to clean ourselves or sun to charge our energy. We celebrate lifes cycles with the new and full moon, feeling the deep influence it has in our lifes. We believe that the 4 elements and all living things are one with us and so they are of course part of this comunity as brothers and sisters. We love, respect and thank them continuously. Natural progression is the way!!!São Francisco de Assis
This story is a perfect symbol of what we believe in and what we want to do here. San Francisco is the patron Saint of all animals and known for having a very special relationship with nature. He refused the heritage his fathers wealth and dedicated his life to helping people in need. He preached a simple approach in life, based on the correct relationship with the Earth and aparted from materialism. A way of life acessible to all men despite their finacial status.
We share the filosophy that simplicity brings you more peace and is more rewarding than abundance. We believe that its within the nature that we need to find our hapiness and our balance. We believe we can do that here!
Our grandfather had a strong devotion to the saint and so named this house and my father after him. He even made a movie back then in 1958 about the story of San Francisco and the Wolf. Its a masterpiece!

Golden Retriever
The Golden Retriever was firstly used for his excelent hunting skills. They were bred to collect the hunt after it was shot down. It has a great scent, strong phisique, loves water and is easily adaptable to diferent climates. His tame personality makes him a perfect family dog. Their eternal pacience and loving makes they´re behaviour around children amazing.
We`re proud in having these animals close to us and feel they are an important part of the farm. Surely you will apreciate our close friends and make some new canine friendships too. Some of our dogs are prize winning specimens. One of them was awarded Champion of Portugal 2006, hopefully you´ll get the chance to meet "Archie".
